Written Expression
Thematic Focus: This semester I have been able to express my academic identity through various styles of writing. Words are a very important part in my identity so this is a very important topic to practice.
In language arts this year we read the book outliers and after made a project on a certain outlier. The outlier that I did my project on was Dr. Seuss and the style of writing I used was an outline. Outlines are a very useful writing style that allows me to express all my thoughts without writing a full essay, but still learning just as much.

Another writing style I used this semester were Cornell notes, especially in history. Cornell notes allow me to separate sections of the topic easily and include special notes or pictures that will help me remember the unit. I used the cornell note format when taking notes for each chapter of the history book.
Below is an image of one of the many vocab test, which we did throughout the year to learn SAT words. In this writing style we had to write a story about a certain topic using the vocab word and a context clue of the word to prove we understood the word. I was able to learn not only knew words but how to use them which will allow me to be a more developed writer. I received a 100 on this test which was unit 12.

Above is a picture of a LEQ rubric that I did in WHAP in which I received a 6/6 and was able to respond to the prompt and write a cause and effect essay. This is one of the many different types of writing styles we learned this year in this class and I especially enjoyed this prompt because it allowed to express my thoughts.
